There was a stunning break from standard policy on Friday after we vetoed a dangerous anti-Israel resolution at the UN.
It demands that Jews will no longer be able to reside in the West Bank or Eastern side of Jerusalem. As it was voted on within the Security Council, this has a lot of weight to it.
It was passed 14-0 with the United States being the only abstention.
In previous years, we would try to protect Israel against these kinds of motions and harsh sanctions. Israel alleges that Obama had been looking to get revenge on the Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The US administration secretly cooked up with the Palestinians an extreme anti-Israeli resolution behind Israel’s back,” a government source in Jerusalem told The Times of Israel.
He went on to explain that Obama had not simply made a point by have the US abstain on the vote.
The passing of this resolution will provide “a tailwind for terror and boycotts and effectively make the Western Wall occupied Palestinian territory.”
