Millions of Americans were hoping that Hillary Clinton’s political career was over after her humiliating loss to Donald Trump in the presidential election. Unfortunately, she hasn’t quite given up her political ambitions yet…
Less than two months after the election, top Democratic donors and leaders are begging Clinton to run for New York City mayor and challenge incumbent Bill de Blasio. According to Newsmax, she’s strongly considering the offer.
“She’s talking about it,” a former city Democratic elected official revealed, adding that her team has not dismissed the idea yet.
“If she ran, she’d win,” another source said, pointing out that many Democrats are dissatisfied with de Blasio’s mayorship.
Veteran New York Democratic consultant Hank Sheinkopf claimed that Clinton”would be a terrific candidate for mayor.”
“She is wildly popular among New Yorkers — so much so that were she to file, de Blasio would have to file his retirement papers on the same day,” he said.
Clinton and de Blasio have been close in the past, but their relationship has reportedly soured as she no longer supports his progressive stances. Sheinkopf recalled that “de Blasio endorsed her very late in the Democratic race last year and at times appeared to be quite friendly to Bernie Sanders.”
Unfortunately, it looks like Clinton has not given up her political dreams just yet. Let’s just hope she doesn’t go for another presidential bid in 2020…
